Barbati / yard long bean recipe:
                              preparation&cooking: 30-40 minutes
                                                             1bundle serves :4 members
                                                               cuisine:Andhra

Ingredients:
  •  1/2 bundle long yard(chop them to 2 inches of  size)
  •      Finely chopped onions
  •      chopped tomatos
  •      chopped  green chillies
  •      Turmeric powder/Pasupu 1/2 tsp
  •      Chilli powder  1tsp
  •       Salt  to taste

                                                                                                   Talimpu / tadka:

                                             Oil  2 to 3  tspoons
                                             Garlic 3 cloves
                                             Dried chillies 3
                                                                   Avalu/ Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Chena dal/pachi senga pappu     1/2  tsp
                                                                    Urad dal /minapappu 1/2 tsp
                                                             Jeera/Jeelakarra  1/2 tsp
                                       Onions  2
                                        Curry leafs
Green chilly 3 (based on    spicyness u can eat)

  • Heat oil in a heavy based pan or pressure cooker..add smashed garlic and let it fry for 1 minute..then add dry chillies, let them turn little dark..then add the tadka ingredients. once the mustard seeds starts bursting then  add finely chopped onions , chilli n curry leafs.
  • Fry till the onions get their colour changed slightly ,now add chopped tomatos to it..stir it finely for 2 minutes..now add the chopped beans to it..stir finely..add salt, chilli powder n turmeric..
  • Till now all the cooking process should b done in the low flame..after adding salt to the beans increase flame ..so that the salt gets melted and ozzes  liquid out from vegetables that is required for cooking...wait  for 3 to 4 minutes in high flame..u can observe the beans completely rolled in oil . As  we added more onions and  tomato's  we can get nice gravy.. now reduce the flame to low or below medium..then place the lid...if u r using pressure cooker then just wash ur hand in the curry (pour  1/4 cup of water) n  close the cooker n place the weight..let the cooker gives single whistle in flame ..now you can off the stove n check for the softness of the vegetable.
If  you are cooking in an open pan , Let it cook for 20 to 25 mints in low flame..since we are cooking in low flame..curry wont get burned n more over our gravy will be well prepared . Now off the flame  n stir the curry nicely...taste  to see the correctness of salt..that's it! our barbati curry is done..serve it hot...enjoy eating...  :-)
